66 New Homes Set for Rancho Santa Margarita

BY JOHNATHAN LANSER AND JEFF COLLINS, ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER

Brandywine Homes will build 66 townhomes on the site of an old religious school in Rancho Santa Margarita.
The $31 million project called “Bungalows” will comprise 11 buildings at 30482 Avenida De Las Banderas — near the popular IHOP restaurant.
Home details?
Two- and three-story homes.
Size: 1,644 to 2,100 square feet.
Features? “Granite counters, kitchen islands, walk-in closets, balconies, garages and great rooms.”
Priced from the low $400,000s to the mid $500,000s.

Brett Whitehead, president of family-owned Brandywine Homes from Irvine: “It is very rare to find an infill site like this in a built-out community in south Orange County … The homes will be larger than townhomes on the resale market but smaller than single-family detached homes. We expect to attract younger buyers in their 30s, newlyweds, couples just starting families and perhaps some new buyers who don’t want the big house or the maintenance of the backyard.”

Construction to begin early in 2012 with models ready for next summer.
