Easy ways to include more fitness into 2021

Staying healthy has so many benefits: physical health, mental health, and overall wellbeing. This is the time of year when many of us make new year’s resolutions. But sometimes, starting a new fitness routine can seem intimidating. It doesn’t have to be. Here are some simple and achievable ways to support a healthier you in the new normal right at home.

BACK TO BASICS: You don’t need a fancy gym or fitness trainer to help you stay healthier. Adopt a daily routine that features the basics that we all already know: sit-ups, push-ups, jumping jacks, lunges, squats, etc. All these things can be done in the convenience of your home. The spacious floorplans at Carlow have plenty of room to get your exercising on. We take great care in designing floor plans that are versatile for every aspect of contemporary living. Another good idea is to set a fixed time when you do your exercises. Then, it will eventually become second nature to you to easily maintain.

DO IT TOGETHER. Exercising and supporting good health is easier when you have a buddy. Make the people in your “bubble” part of your exercise routine. Grab the kids, grand your spouse/loved one, and do simple exercises together at home. Remember recess when you were in school? It was always fun. Make sure you take a recess with your “bubble” to play catch, frisbee, practice your soccer moves, etc. Mix up your activities to keep it interesting. When exercising feels like playing, it’s more fun.

WALK 30 MINUTES EVERY DAY: A daily walk is an easy way to maintain consistency. It’s simple but does wonders. No fancy equipment is needed whatsoever. Getting fresh air and away from our gadgets and work is uniquely rewarding. It’s the perfect reset button. Your dog will love it too. In addition, setting time aside to do simple stretching is so good for your circulation and muscles.

DRINK MORE WATER: Try to drink a glass of water when you first get up in the morning and before each meal. Staying hydrated also helps with energy and mood throughout the day. Drinking coffee, tea, or other beverages doesn’t count towards your daily water intake. Keep it simple and effective by drinking lots of water every single day. Your body and skin will love it.

SLEEP: Getting consistently restful sleep is so important, especially for health. It helps you have more energy, fight cravings, and reduce calorie intake to aid in losing weight. Snooze, and you CAN lose.
