New townhome development in Norwalk will soon break ground

Brandywine Homes will begin selling new townhomes at 11009 Pioneer Blvd. in Norwalk this September.

NORWALK >> The City of Norwalk is scheduled to have one of the largest, if not the largest, townhome developments in more than 20 years by the spring of 2016.

The 31-unit, almost $15 million gated community, located at 11009 Pioneer Blvd., is across the street from Little Lake Park and will feature two- and three-bedroom stucco townhomes ranging from 1,100 to 1,462 square feet. The units will start at $400,000, said Brett Whitehead, president of Brandywine Homes, the Irvine-based residential home developer.

Developers will break ground this month on Sunstone, which will be marketed to first-time homebuyers earning between $80,000 and $100,000 a year, Whitehead said.

“Norwalk is pretty much built out, so it’s hard to find land to build on,” Whitehead said.

The homes are scheduled to go on the market in September, and the development is expected to be finished by March 2016.

The two-story townhomes will have granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, tankless water heaters, two-car garages and concrete tile roofs. Residents will have an open space area with children’s play equipment, barbecue grills, picnic tables and a shade structure.

Each townhome will have two garage parking spots and one guest spot.

Norwalk is located in the heart of a regional transportation network served by the 5, 91, 105 and 605 freeways and two commuter rail lines, the Metro Green Line and the MetroLink system.
