Swoon Over Your Laundry Room

Is it possible to make one of the hardest working rooms in your house one of your favorite spots? Few may think the laundry room is the place to be, but with these cute design ideas, hacks and tips, you’ll be making excuses to wash, dry and fold every day of the week!

1. Instead of plain, white walls, paint them in a pop of color (or colors!) you might not feel comfortable using in another room in your house. After all, it’s a small space, so feel free to give it its own personality. Be bold with your color choice.
2. Along with the walls, you can also be a little more radical with your floor options. Consider durable tiles (after all, they will likely get wet), but choose a fun pattern that makes you smile every time you enter the room.
3. Instead of drab, matte cabinetry, why not install bright glossy white or a color that complements your walls. Again…you don’t need to follow typical design rules in this compact space because it’s really an entity unto itself.
4. If you’ve decided to go with a more neutral style floor, you can add a little character by throwing down a brightly patterned runner or area rug, depending on the size. Since you may be running into this room shoeless and sockless, a rug is a nice soft place to land as you tackle your washing chores.
5. Install some convenient sorting, folding and storage places too. You can have rods for hanging clothes, a nice long counter for folding, and shelves and cubbies will do double duty when you need a place for your laundry baskets.
6. If you have the room and you have pets, you can dedicate a pet washing station too for your little fur baby. Since this room is already plumbed, it’s an easy addition for another must-do chore in your home.

Even if the rest of your house tends the neutrals, you can really hit it out of the park in this little space where you’ll be spending a lot of time. Many of Brandywine Homes’ layouts include a spacious laundry area. Because of its size, placement and ability to shut itself off from the rest of the house, it’s the perfect room to let your creativity shine through!
